Juanda Street’s Sunday Market, The Best Bargaining Shopping Center

 Sunday Market at Juanda Street is the largest bargaining weekly market at Depok City, West Java Province.  Depok just located at southern part of Jakarta, about  15 kilometers from Jakarta.


Sunday Market at this street has been open since eight years ago. At that time just a few sellers who trade in this place but nowadays there is hundreds sellers who trade in this place every Sunday. They occupy pedestrian along this street about two kilo meters.  Some of them just put their merchandise on the pedestrian, but some of them use the tent. This market usually open from 06.00 AM until 11.00 AM. Mostly merchandise sells at this Sunday Market are domestic needs such as clothes, household appliances, electronic equipment, children's toys,  food and daily necessities.


Actually, those who trade in this place basically are not pure trader. They are workers or housewife who seeking for additional income. Therefore, they only trade on the Sunday. For example, Hadi, one of  wallet's seller in this place said that from Monday to Friday he work at a company office at Central Jakarta. However, on Sunday he trade in this place to seek additional income.  Hadi said that he has been trade in this place for two years and he got enough money from his side jobs.


However,  Nuri one buyer said she is happy to shop at this place because the price is relatively cheaper that the prices in stores or traditional markets. Besides the quality of  the goods do not disappoint. She explained, she did not come every Sunday, she just visited this market if  there is a need to be purchased.


Although only once a week, the presence of this market can answer the needs of the community for goods at affordable prices. That's why people always visit this market every Sunday because this is the place they can get their needs with bargaining prices.
