The Indonesian President Inaugurated 16 New Ambassadors in State Palace

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated in State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, 16 new ambassadors who will serve in a number of countries in Asia, Europe, North and Latin America and Africa.

The ceremony included the inauguration of president friend who was involved in President Yudhoyono's reelection in 2009, former Air Force chief Air Marshal (ret.) Herman Prayitno as Indonesia's new ambassador to Malaysia. Herman graduated from the Military Academy with Yudhoyono in 1973. Kuala Lumpur is one of the most important embassy for Indonesia given that around three million Indonesians are currently working there.

Among the new envoys, there are some people from the military and civil society. One of them is August Parengkuan, a senior journalist at Kompas Daily, who olso took oath during the inauguration ceremony as Indonesian new ambassador to Italy.

The ceremony was attended by first lady Ani Yudhoyono, Vice President Boediono and Mrs. Herawati Boediono, and all the cabinet ministers, including Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating People's Welfare Minister Agung Laksono, and Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto.

After the ceremony, the President and the first lady welcomed the new envoys to a tea reception.

The list of the new envoys is as follows:
1. Foster Gultom, Foreign Ministry’s secretary to the director general of ASEAN cooperation (Kazakhstan)
2. Harimawan Suyitno, Consul-General in Guangzhou, China (Sri Lanka)
3. Tri Edi Mulyani, Consul-General in New York (Colombia)
4. Ronny P. Yuliantoro, Foreign Ministry’s director for Middle East affairs (Tunisia)
5. Triyono Wibowo, former Deputy of Foreign Minister (Indonesian Envoy to UN organization in Geneva)
6. Marcellinus Primanti Hendrasmoro, senior diplomat  (East Timor)
7.  Chilman Arisman, Consul-General in Penang, Malaysia (Bahrain)
8.  Rachmat Budiman, Foreign Ministry’s director for political treaties (Austria)
9.  August Parengkuan, senior journalist at Kompas daily (Italy)
10.  Maj. Gen. Ansori Tajudin, TNI chief’s intelligence assistant (Afghanistan)
11. Benny Bahana Dewa, Consul-General in Chicago, US (Greece)
12. Air Marshal (ret.) Herman Prayitno, former Air Force chief (Malaysia)
13.  John Prasetyo, businessman and a special staffer for Industry Minister (S. Korea)
14.  Nunik Koen, senior diplomat (Ukraine)
15. Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, a deputy minister at the Office of Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister, and former ambassador to the EU (Australia)
16. Wajid Fauzi, Foreign Ministry’s secretary to the director general for protocol (Yemen)
