Explosive Found After NEC's Announcement

Phnom Penh- Police said on Friday Morning that they found
explosives in two popular places in Central Phnom Penh.
Three M79 grenade launchers were found in a park near US
Embassy and another explosive is founded in a water container in front of the
parliament house.
Witnesses in front of parliament house said the police
exploded the suspected water container. The sound of explosive created a surprise
among local resident near the place.
A Phnom Penh resident Sivorn said that she had to cancel her
family dinner in a restaurant near the parliament house for fear of security.
The M79 grenade launchers are found in the tree bush in the
park along the Way near Wat Phnom. Wat Phnom is a historic hilly place with
Buddhist pagoda on top, the symbol of Phnom Penh, where many international
tourists rarely miss if they come to visit Phnom Penh.
Last few days an explosive was found in Siem Reap, the city
of Angkor, jus day before the opposition party's protest.
Political unrest continues to fear Cambodia people after the
July national election. On September, 7,
opposition party leader Sam Rainsy held a mass protest on Democratic Park
demanding the National Election Committee to set up independent committee to
investigate the election result. Rainsy wowed to continue the protest if the
NEC still insist to announce the result on September 8.
The NEC continue its job by announcing the election result a
day after claiming Cambodian People's Party
won 68 seats and National rescue Party won 55 seats.
The Constitutional Council of Magistracy opened an investigation over the
opposition allegation and found the NEC irregularities in many selected polling
stations. The NEC accepted its
weaknesses and pledge to improve it for the next election. The NEC also gives
penalty to its staff that made mistake in conducting the poll.Business people complaint that the sale has been going down after the election as the political deadlock continues.
A real estate company owner in Phnom Penh who asked not to be named said that in August he had not customer at all. Before the election he had at least 10 customers a month to come for his company to broke houses.
The Cambodian King has returned from Beijing on September 11 after he was away for medical checkup for a month. The King is expected to be playing a role in mediating the political deadlock between the two rival parties.
Police today increase tight- up security to protect the safety in Phnom Penh.
