U.S Embassy Warns Its Citizens to Stay Out of Rally in Cambodia
The American Embassy to Cambodia issues a warning today that on 7 September there will be a 10,000 strong rally on Democratic Park from 6-11 a.m.
It says there had been an experience in the past that peaceful protest could eventually turn into violence.
The American Embassy has warned its citizen to be careful for their safety and to avoid going to any places where many people are rallying.
The government also gives permission to the opposition party to rally on Democratic Park in order to protest peacefully against election result.
Cambodia conducted national election in July 28, 2013. Preliminary result shows that Cambodian People's Party, the government ruling won 68 seats and the opposition party won 55 seats. The opposition party rejected the result saying that the National Election Committee cheated the results.
The Constitutional Council of Magistracy opened an investigation over the opposition allegation and found the NEC irregularities in many selected polling stations.
